2023 Ticonderoga Microenterprise Grant Program Awards Announced

Funded By The Town of Ticonderoga Via Essex County Occupancy Tax Funds

The Town of Ticonderoga is excited to announce that the 2023 Ticonderoga Microenterprise Grant Review Committee has awarded six business grants via this new economic development initiative in Ticonderoga, NY.

The grant review committee reviewed all applications, and recommended the following 2023 Grant Recipients to the Essex County Industrial Development Agency (ECIDA) Board, where they received final approval: Brookwood RV Resort, Fox and Fern-Adirondack Mercantile, Montcalm Liquors, Ticonderoga Natural Foods Co-Op, Ticonderoga Trading Post, and Small Town Boutique.

“Congratulations to the 2023 Ticonderoga Microenterprise Grant Recipients. I could not be more excited to have reached the final stage in this round of this new grant program. The purpose of occupancy tax money is to aid those businesses and projects that support our tourism industry and thereby further spur our economy. I am thrilled to see this money being used for one of its intended purposes and I am very proud of the work accomplished in this effort by the Town, ECIDA, and TACC.  This microgrant program demonstrates the town’s continued commitment to economic development,” stated Mark Wright, Town of Ticonderoga Supervisor.

This initiative via the Town of Ticonderoga was in partnership with the ECIDA and the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC). The Town of Ticonderoga Supervisor, ECIDA Executive Director, and TACC President and CEO were not part of the review committee as they served as the coordinators of the grant program.

The 2023 Ticonderoga Microenterprise Grant Program was funded by the Town of Town Ticonderoga via Essex County Occupancy Tax Funds. Occupancy Tax Funds collected are distributed by Essex County and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism to each municipality. These funds have specific guidelines for use to further support the tourism industry that were created by Essex County.

“Thank you to our partners at the Town of Ticonderoga, Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce, Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism and of course Essex County. These microgrants are providing resolution to small businesses lack of access to capital. This program is providing needed assistance for businesses to be able to offer a more relevant mix of wares, goods, and services. This business growth will continue to improve the viability of the businesses  and strengthen the local economy. Ticonderoga is investing in resources that are enhancing the quality of life for residents and helping to improve the tourism industry. The IDA looks forward to our continued collaboration and partnership with the Town of Ticonderoga and TACC,” commented, Carol Calabrese, ECIDA Co-Executive Director.

Local businesses interested in applying for this 2023 grant program were encourage to attend a public meeting that was held in September to learn more about eligibility requirements, criteria, eligible use of funds, the program process, financial assistance, the timeline, as well as business support and assistance that available for applicants. In addition, to be eligible to receive the application, all businesses were required to attend a training hosted by the Small Business Development Center and the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce.

The launch of this new grant program in coordination with the Town of Ticonderoga, the ECIDA, and other partner agencies is an example of the TACC advocating for additional resources and collaborating with partners to foster business and economic growth. We are truly thankful for amazing partner agencies that have made this grant program possible for Ticonderoga. Together we are creating a vibrant future.
