18 Aug Town of Moriah to Host Annual Labor Day Celebration
The Town of Moriah will host its annual Labor Day Celebration from Friday, August 29th through Sunday, August 31st, 2025, with a full weekend of events for residents and visitors of all ages. From markets and races to fireworks and live entertainment, the celebration offers something for everyone throughout Moriah and the surrounding area.
Schedule of Events:
Friday, August 29th
5:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Kick-Off to Labor Day Weekend: Port Henry Waterfront Farmers Market
Location: Bridgeview Harbour Marina
The celebration begins with an evening at the waterfront featuring live music from Bear Naked Bears, local vendors, and food trucks. This Friday Night Market is organized by the Moriah Chamber of Commerce, hosted by Bridgeview Harbour Marina, and made possible through a grant from the Town of Moriah and the Essex County Arts Council.
Saturday, August 30th
9:00 AM: End of Summer Town-Wide Garage Sale
Residents across Moriah and Port Henry will host garage sales. Maps will be available at the Moriah town hall and via the Town of Moriah Facebook page. 8:00 PM: Parade of Lights on Lake Champlain
Location: Departing from Bridgeview Harbour Marina
Boaters are invited to decorate their vessels and join in this visually stunning parade on Lake
Champlain. Open to any boat on the lake, the procession will begin at Bridgeview Harbour
Marina just before dark. Boats will head west toward the Champlain Bridge, then turn north to an anchorage just south of the Port Henry Pier, offering a front-row view of the fireworks show.
Participation is free and open to all boaters regardless of home port. Spectators can view the Parade of Lights from Champ Beach Park. To register your boat, visit: https://www.bridgeviewharbour.com/pages/laborday
9:00 PM: Labor Day Fireworks
Enjoy a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Champlain, launched from the Port Henry Pier. Best viewed from nearby shore at Champ Beach Park or by boat.
Sunday, August 31st
8:30 AM Registration | 9:30 AM Start: Labor Day Dash 5K
This downhill, fast-paced 5K begins at Moriah Central School and ends at Bridgeview Harbour Marina, guiding runners past sites tied to the region’s rich iron mining history. There is a $25 registration fee. T-shirts included for all registered runners. There will be finish medals for all participants, awards for top three overall finishers and prizes for top male and female in each age group.

10:30 AM: Kids Dash & Splash
Location: Bridgeview Harbour Marina
A one-mile fun run for kids, ending with a water-themed surprise. There is a $10 registration fee, T-shirts and medals for all participants included and prizes for top finishers.

2:00 PM: Labor Day Parade
Location: Main Street, Port Henry
*Parade will begin at Stone St./Broad St. intersection, go down Broad St., turn right onto Main St., and end at Sleeper’s Repair Shop on Main St.
A community parade featuring local organizations, performers, and floats, celebrating the
people and spirit of the Town of Moriah.
3:00 PM: Labor Day Market
Location: Port Henry Field
*Port Henry Field is located off of College Street in Port Henry, NY.
An afternoon marketplace featuring local goods, food vendors, and artisans.
3:00 PM: Miner’s Car Show
Location: Church Street
*Car show will begin immediately following the Labor Day Parade. Church St. will be closed to traffic for the day.
A classic car show honoring the town’s mining legacy, featuring antique and custom vehicles.
3:00 PM – 8:00 PM: BBQ and Live Music
Location: Port Henry Field
*Port Henry Field is located off of College Street in Port Henry, NY.
Wrap up the weekend with a community Chicken BBQ and live music by Blues Without Borders. Chicken BBQ is $13.00 per dinner. There will be vendors, food trucks, a tent with seating, and Ledge Hill Brewing Co at the event.
