01 May Best 4th In The North Announces Grand Marshal – Parade Applications Being Accepted
The Ticonderoga Best 4thIn The North Committee, a sub-committee of the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership (TMSP), is honored to announce that Sister Sharon Dalton of St. Mary’s School and Church, is the 2023 Grand Marshal for the Best 4th In The North parade. Sister Sharon has served St. Mary’s School, St. Mary’s Church, and the Ticonderoga Community for almost 40 years.
“Congratulations to Sister Sharon! You are the perfect choice for our 2023 Grand Marshal and it is our privilege to honor you. Ticonderoga is grateful for your commitment and dedication to the community, our youth, and for your role in making Ticonderoga an amazing place to live and visit. The impact you have had on so many will be seen for many years to come,” stated Debbie Barber – Best 4th In The North Committee Chairperson.
The committee is encouraging the community to participate in the parade in a variety of ways. Parade participants are encouraged to register as early as possible for planning purposes. The committee would like to see floats from attractions, businesses, sports teams, clubs, organizations, etc. There is no charge to participate in the parade but all entries must pre-register, be family friendly and follow all parade guidelines.
2023 Parade applications can be found at www.timainstreet.org, www.ticonderogany.com, or picked up at the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TMSP Coordinator) office in Downtown Ticonderoga. Past participants have been mailed a parade application as well.
Expanded and updated parade participant rules have been created by the committee. All parade participants must read and sign off on the rules as well as submit an application by the stated deadline of June 23rd, 2023. No exceptions will be made. The entrance for check in for the parade will take place as you enter Race Track Road at the Route 74 entrance.
The Best 4th In the North Celebration attracts many visitors to the Ticonderoga area every year which supports local businesses and the local economy. A schedule for the 2023 celebration is currently being finalized by the committee. The celebration will take place July 1st – 4th, 2023 with a grand fireworks display, parade, Montcalm Mile (organized by the LaChute Road Runners), music, food, vendors, games, and more. The committee is always working to bring new aspects to the event.
Without the support of our area businesses and community members the Best 4th In The North celebration would not be possible. The celebration costs approximately over $50,000 each year with most of that being raised by the volunteer committee. The Town of Ticonderoga does support the celebration with $10,000.
Donations in support of the committee’s efforts are tax-deductible as the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership is a 501c3 Not-For Profit organization.
The Best 4th in The North committee needs more volunteers to help with the planning, fundraising and during the celebration. The committee typically meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 4:00 PM at the Chamber Office in Downtown Ticonderoga.
