Recent Ticonderoga Area Business Entrepreneur Program A Success

The Adirondack Economic Development Center (AEDC), in conjunction with the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC) and North Country Community College (NCCC), recently held a 15-week intensive business basics for aspiring entrepreneurs or existing small businesses. The class took place September through December 2019 each week at the Ticonderoga campus of North Country Community College.

“AEDC is so pleased to have been given the opportunity to partner with the TACC and NCCC in offering this course. We always enjoy working with their wonderful staff and in the Ticonderoga Area community. We are already planning additional workshops and an expanded partnership with TACC,” commented Victoria Duley – AEDC Executive Director.

The class was targeted toward anyone who has considered launching a small business, who has struggled with business expansion and success, or simply would like to take a business refresher course. This Business Plan Basics course is part of the NxLevel curriculum and covers Entrepreneur Self -Assessment, Researching Your Business Idea, Business Planning, Marketing, Laws, Regulations, Taxes, Managing Your Microbusiness, Analyzing Your Market, the 4 P’s of Marketing, E-Commerce, Selling Success, Cash Flow Management, Keeping Books and Records, and Financial Tools. Experts in the areas of insurance and accounting were guest speakers during the course along with the Ticonderoga Chamber of Commerce, Symquest, Small Business Development Center, and the Center for Businesses in Transition.

“AEDC truly enjoyed working in the Ticonderoga Area and hopes to have more collaborations in the future with the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce. It was exciting to work with this community. We had a great class with a wide variety of business ideas to pursue. We thank all of the participants for their hard work they put in and we wish them luck in their entrepreneurial endeavors,” shared Stephanie Donaldson – AEDC Program Instructor.

AEDC certainly deemed the class successful in Ticonderoga with eleven participants. Some of the participants had long-term business plans and projects, some were just at the beginning stages of developing a business, two have plans to open within the next year, and several are currently in business, have recently opened, or are about to open.

“We are thrilled to be creating a stronger partnership with the Adirondack Economic Development Center and that this program recently offered in Ticonderoga was so successful. This 15-week course was a great opportunity for those looking or thinking of starting a business, those looking to expand their business, as well as businesses who wanted to refresh their knowledge on certain key areas. We look forward other partnership opportunities via AEDC and working with them to bring additional resources to our communities. I would also like to thank NCCC for their continued collaboration. We have a beautiful campus in Ticonderoga and we are always looking at ways to strengthen our partnership with NCCC,” shared Matthew Courtright – President & CEO of the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce.
