Ticonderoga Little League to Celebrate Opening Weekend & 75th Anniversary

Ticonderoga Little League to Celebrate Opening Weekend & 75th Anniversary

The Ticonderoga Little League is proud to kick off its 2026 season with a special Opening Weekend Celebration on Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd. This will mark an incredible milestone, 75 years of Little League in the Ticonderoga community. On Friday, festivities will begin at 5:00 PM, leading into the 5:30 PM game time, while Saturday’s events will start at 9:00 AM, offering a full day of celebration, activities, and baseball for players, families, and the community to enjoy.

Opening Ceremonies will take place on Friday evening and will feature a series of special remarks and recognitions. Matthew Courtright, President & CEO of the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC), will welcome attendees and open the ceremony, followed by remarks from Daniel J. Woods, President of Ticonderoga Little League. Additional speakers will include local leaders who will help reflect on the league’s legacy and impact.

The ceremony will also include a ribbon cutting, the Star-Spangled Banner, a ceremonial first pitch, and the official call to “Play Ball” to kick off the season. Families and community members are encouraged to attend and be part of this meaningful celebration.

Throughout the weekend, attendees can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities. Free face painting will be provided on Friday by The Art Bucket, and the Wind-Chill Factory will be on-site serving ice cream both days. Mountain Bouncers is providing bounce houses both days. On Saturday, New York Life will offer free giveaways. Ticonderoga Little League will also have a tent set up featuring 75th anniversary merchandise for sale, including shirts, hats, mugs, tumblers, keychains, and lanyards. In addition, cornhole boards will be available for families and attendees to enjoy throughout the weekend. Additional activities, including photo opportunities and more, are being planned to enhance the weekend experience.

“This milestone is not only about celebrating 75 years of baseball, but also about recognizing the generations of players, coaches, families, and volunteers who have made Ticonderoga Little League what it is today,” shared Woods. “From the very beginning, the values of Little League have guided our players, coaches, and volunteers. This year, with 253 kids in the league, the most we’ve ever had, it’s clear just how strong and important this program is to our community. Longtime supporter Tony Paniccia once reflected that through all his years of involvement, one question mattered most: are the players, and are we as coaches, managers, parents, and umpires, having fun? For him, the answer was always yes. Seventy-five years later, that same goal remains at the heart of everything we do.”

The Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to serve as the local liaison, helping connect resources and support for this milestone celebration. TACC is assisting and serving as the MC for the opening ceremony. Community members, families, and visitors alike are invited to join in honoring this special anniversary, cheering on the next generation of local athletes, and celebrating the many years of dedication and service the Little League has provided to the Ticonderoga community.
