03 Dec Ticonderoga Police Department to Celebrate Relocation to New Facility
The Town of Ticonderoga, in coordination with the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce (TACC), are pleased to announce a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the relocation of the Ticonderoga Police Department. The event will take place on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 4:00 PM, welcoming community partners, residents, and visitors to commemorate this significant milestone. The new location is 102 Race Track Road in Ticonderoga, NY.
The relocation represents a major advancement for the town’s public safety infrastructure and was achieved through extensive collaboration among local businesses, municipal departments, community volunteers, and dedicated town leadership. Several community partners, including TrailNorth Federal Credit Union, TACC, and the Ticonderoga Revitalization Alliance, donated furniture to help furnish key areas of the new station, saving taxpayer dollars while supporting the department’s operational needs. Local residents also contributed gently used office chairs and assisted with the purchase of small kitchen appliances.
Manpower from multiple Town of Ticonderoga departments, including Highway, Groundskeeping, Water, and Sewer, played an essential role in preparing the new facility. Their efforts included moving furniture, clearing significant debris discovered on the premises after the building was purchased, and assisting with the final move. Members of the police department and town leadership also contributed significant hands-on work to reduce renovation costs. Police department staff painted six rooms, assembled furniture, moved equipment, and constructed shelving for the long-term evidence room, with many hours donated outside of regular shifts. Additional support came from the Town Supervisor, who assisted with furniture assembly after hours, and from the Chief of Police, who undertook critical organizational projects in preparation for occupancy.
The Town notes that the volunteer commitment of Board Members Tom Thatcher and Dave Woods, who served as “boots on the ground” throughout the project, was instrumental to the success of the relocation. Their countless hours of work, along with the efforts of the Municipal Facilities Committee, made a lasting impact on the project and contributed significantly to bringing the new facility to life.
Chief of Police Adam Hurlburt stated, “The relocation of the Ticonderoga Police Department marks an important step forward in our commitment to public safety and community service. This new facility will allow our officers to work more efficiently, respond more effectively, and continue building strong partnerships with the people we serve. We’re grateful for the support of our community and local leaders, and we look forward to using this space to better protect and serve Ticonderoga for years to come.”
Town Supervisor Mark Wright added, “I am proud of our administration in its determination to finally address and solve the challenge of providing an adequate and functional home for our police department. Completion of this project enables proper law enforcement operations at a cost-effective price tag, saving countless millions of taxpayer dollars over other alternatives. This is the direct result of what can be accomplished when people work together and go above and beyond for a common purpose. My thanks for the successful efforts of the town council, town staff, town departments, town attorney, the Municipal Facility Committee, and our contractors.”
The Town of Ticonderoga invites community members to attend the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and celebrate this important step forward for local public safety services.
